IIT Bombay Alumni pledge Rs. 25 crores to the Institute for research Centers & infrastructure

Mumbai: The pupils of 1993 batch Indian Institute of Technology, IIT Bombay have donated 25 crores on completing 25 decades of the graduation. This is the first time a batch has donated such a great deal of money. The pledged amount could be employed by IIT Bombay to fund its different research projects and also for infrastructural improvement. Additionally, this is one of the greatest corpus given by alumni to any alma mater in India.

IIT Bombay is among the earliest and most esteemed engineering institutes of the nation. IIT Bombay is also one of the Top three Institutes from India to be ranked in the Top Colleges in Asia in various Foreign Rankings. While alumni donations are not unusual, the corpus of all the Rs. 25 crores is one of the largest recorded in the nation. Alumni donate or pledge funds to their alma mater usually on their 10, 15 or 25-year reunions. For IIT Bombay, the donation is virtually customary after completion of 25 years of graduation.

This number is used to make labs, the production of new buildings and above all, scholarships for underprivileged pupils. The 1992 batch gave donations worth nine crores along with the batch of 1998 announced it will now give 1.6 crores.

The students of 1993 batch have put a record to provide Donation of 25 crores. Out of 850 pupils, 140 students have led to this donation. Alumni have voiced a desire that the money ought to be used nicely and feel that pupils in India deserve the same kind of quality education which they had been lucky to get out of their institutes.
